So it’s Sunday morning. I am sitting on my porch as I write. It is a beautiful Jozi winters day. Maya and Debs are playing in the background and the birds around my house seem to be in a particularly chirpy mood. All in all it makes me feel really happy with my life at the moment. In fact just this morning Debbie asked me if I am happy with my life. I replied to her that I would say I couldn’t be happier at the moment. As my reader you may ask me why I am so happy. You have been on various journeys with me reviewing shows and my personal struggles with health issues and trying to get on stage. Yes I am a bodybuilding and fitness fan but what on earth could be making me happy enough to make a statement like I made to Debbie this morning. ...

Arnold Classic Africa 2016 Preview Ok so we are finally here. It’s Thursday the 26th May 2016. Officials and organisers have been preparing for the Arnolds weekend for a long time. I am going to do a retrospective next week of the entire weekend but for now let’s look at the journey to get here to the day of registration. I feel that I have positives and negatives to cover so let’s dive right in. I have been monitoring social media as much as humanly possible in the last year leading up to today. From the day the Arnolds was announced it seems that there were those who seemed dead set on discrediting it. Check him out of Facebook as well at Decadence 247                Allow me to introduce you to my healthy version of millionaires shortbread.  My version of millionaires shortbread are refined sugar free, dairy free and gluten free. Now that doesn’t sound great but hold on – eating healthy doesn’t mean we have to give up the pleasures of life. These are just as insanely delicious, are a much healthier version of traditional millionaires shortbread and is a great treat that we should not feel guilty about…   They are quick and easy to make and you will have most of the ingredients lying around at home (OK, not lying around but kept in your pantry cupboards). They keep for a long time, both in the freezer and in the fridge, which is handy as ...

So we have finally kicked off the 2016 competitive year. Yes we have had a novice show here and there, but the Millennium Gold Plate (MGP) was the first serious open show for the year. Let me tell you, however you cut it this show was MASSIVE! Roughly 420 individual entries/athletes massive! There are a few things to address which appeal to my pedantic nature and I will get to it but let me get to the day of the event. As always I seem to have some young bodybuilder sleeping over the night before a show. I have no idea why this happens. Debs has called our house the halfway house for bodybuilders as we… ok ok “I” have an open door policy when it comes to this kind of thing. As a result you could say the Bassa household is in the process of becoming somewhat of thoroughfare for ...
