<< Previous Entry .... Next Entry >>  Firstly I would like to start this entry by saying thank you to those of you who have read not only my diary posts but also the other write-ups on my site. I would also like to thank those who messaged/inboxed me directly or on comments. I am glad that you have been touched by my story and that it has inspired you to action. I would just like to raise something at this point. There is inspiration all around you. I know of people who weren’t as lucky as I am and are fighting to come back at the moment, as well as those who overcome difficulties each day to get what they want. It doesn't have to be a broken neck or some sought of injury. Limitations can vary from addictions, to overcoming depression to the extreme of metabolic issues or disease and ...

The Most Glamorous Event on the Fitness Calendar Ok so this has been one of the ones I know we have all been waiting for. I had hoped to attend Saturday’s seminar and registration but due to some personal commitments it was not to be. I can tell you that checking in on my Facebook timeline left me with serious FOMO. I have come to appreciate the subtleties of attending an athlete’s meeting and learning from it. Also the opportunity to meet Andreia Brazier and Tom Coleman when they were under less pressure would have been amazing. So to those who posted and shared all their pics, experiences and excitement at the registration and seminar thanks for adding to my envy. My Saturday evening was spent prepping my food and tools for show day. That night I went to bed at about 22:00pm after neatly laying out my clothes thinking how awesome it ...

<< Prev Entry ... Next Entry >> We last left off with me laying in an emergency room at 12 at night being told I was going to have a cranial traction halo attached to my head with a spanner. I had the below device attached to my head. Cervical Traction Tongs At this point you may notice that those bolts seem a bit sharp right? Well their function is to basically be turned into your skull so that the device has something to hold on to. I was given a few shots of local anaesthetic which scared the hell out of me for what was to come because they were so painful. Those shots do not numb a thing. One of the nurses came up to my left the other to my right, my hands were tied down. At this point I’m thinking “Uhhhm didn’t this Doctor say this wouldn’t hurt?” I was ...

Next Entry >> In the first 2 entries I am going to give you a history to introduce you to who I am as a person so that you might see why this is so important to me. The subsequent posts will more around my experiences, challenges, nutrition and training. Understand though that this is different from my show write-ups. It is an account of my life so content will largely be determined from history and day to day occurrences. I encourage feedback though. It will help me determine what you the reader would like to hear more about. I hope to share down to the nitty gritty details, the good and the bad, the fun times and hard times to hopefully show all of you out there that whatever you may be experiencing in life with the right attitude, a bit of determination and inspiration you can overcome anything. Bear ...

So thus far this was one of the most anticipated weekends for me. Thus far I have been to the KZN Ironman Novice show and the Gauteng North Novice IFBB Show. Both shows were smaller and the competitors were obviously Novices. While there was some good quality on show at these shows it wasn’t the vast majority of competitors that managed to hit condition. With the exception of Johnny Lucas and Edward Maloiso pushing each other at Gauteng North the KZN Ironman had clear winners in all classes and the overall. Apologies for the quality of images the lighting made it difficult to focus. The beautifully lit stage always sets a great atmosphere Protein shots anyone? I was looking to the Rossi to bring the quality. I can tell you that I wasn’t disappointed. The athletes that competed were in shape and a lot crisper than what I have seen so far ...
